Success!

Ok, so on May 29th, I finally received my big bag from the courier and in it my Sodastream  maker.
Because gas canisters are not allowed on the plane or in a bag sent by a courier, I immediately ordered a replacement CO2 canister from Skroutz. This is an online shopping website similar to Amazon. I would have ordered from Amazon, but for some reason they will not ship the gas to Greece. I hope that a Greek company will. However , it is now June 7th, and my order has not arrived yet. They are promising to ship it next week, but I no longer trust them. And so today, I spent half a day searching for another solution. None of the shops here on Poros Island sell Sodastream or the canisters.
Finally, I found another online seller, that even has a shop in Piraeus, WaterFresh. They dpecialize in water treatment products and sell and service the canisters. I ordered another canister from them and then called them when I saw how close their shop was to the ferry. For a moment I thought that Jennie, my next helper might be able to pick it up tomorrow before boarding the ferry. Unfortunately, the shop is not as close as it looked on the map and it is not open on Saturday.
They will ship it in a
bout a week, or at least that's what they say. So, I'm still buying and drinking fizzy water in bottles while keeping my fingers crossed. As you can see, it's not easy to give up plastic. And while I'm ranting, I might as well also say how insane it is for the supermarket to charge for plastic shopping bags that I reuse for wet trash, when everything else is wrapped in plastic. Furthermore, the paper bags that are available for fruit and vegetables last exactly 1 minute before they rip so they are no good for reusing as garbage bags. If I was running the world...
On the other hand, marijuana is very easy to buy on this island. I can see the priorities.
