Getting ready to launch

Noa arrived about a week after I did and so I had my helper. We are both members of the Workaway website which set up "to promote fair exchange, volunteering and work opportunities between budget travellers, language learners or culture seekers who can stay with families, individuals or organizations that are looking for help with a range of varied and interesting activities."
I hope that Noa will find my project interesting!
We met at a cafe nearby and then had dinner on board and got to know each other a bit more. The next morning, bright and early, right after breakfast, we got to work. I like to get the work out of the way first, so the helper can have the afternoon and evening off.

First, the boat had to be emptied a bit.

So much stuff that has to be put away.

Most of it on deck. I also did the laundry.

Noa cleaned out the area under the v-berth, then sanded it all and prepared for painting.

The v-berth mattress lies on top of these pieces of plywood. The space underneath also had to be cleaned and painted.

It helps to be agile like Noa!

 

She also emptied out the cockpit locker which provides access to the engine from one side and changed the annodes. I am finding out that Noa is very adaptable to any job and able to solve many problems that come up during the day. 
I had Stratos, who is a mechanic come later to do the major work on the engine that required special tools and skills, but Noa and I managed to change the annnodes and some of the filters. 
During the winter, Jimmy who delivers diesel to boats with his truck, cleaned out the diesel tank, so now we have clean diesel and all the filters on the engine. 
It's not all work and no play on Eidos. In the afternoons, Noa went swimming and had plenty of time to come with me to Preveza, go for walks and even took a few days off to visit Meteora and Nikopolis.

She's also a great cook!

Time to relax.

This is March but Noa said the water was just fine. I'll take her word for it.
