Stamatis, the mechanic is here

The gear shift is working again. Last fall, I only had forward gear, which made it tricky to move the boat to the boatyard. Actually it was another mechanic who fixed it without my knowledge. Takis, the boat yard owner had Vasilis fix it. 

And then Stamatis came and confirmed that it was working. He then took out three engine anodes that I couldn't free up. They definitely needed replacing although after 3 years they were still functional. Also, he changed the alternator belt. Luckily, I had a new one on hand. 

And finally, he took out six layers of prop shaft packing and replaced it with three new ones. All this took nearly three hours! Eidos' engine is now good to go!

Update on work done on board

Dimitris, the mechanic was recently on board Eidos and installed a new, custom made, stainless steel exhaust elbow to replace the old, cast aluminum one that had rusted through. Parts for the 1980 Yanmar are difficult if not impossible to find and this was the case with the exhaust elbow.
