Day 3: Life under coronavirus

Freshly varnished v-berth.
During the winter, I had the v-berth door shut and used it as my garage to store things I didn't need. I slept in the quarter berth which was easier to heat as it is open to the main cabin. When the weather started getting warmer I decided to find crew for the middle of March to help me get ready for cruising and so had to prepare another sleeping area.
I opened the door of the v-berth and to my horror found that due to the lack of fresh air circulation, the whole cabin was moldy and the bunk mattress covered with mildew.
Luckily, the weather was fine, so I tossed the cushions and everything else that was weatherproof outside into the cockpit, and proceeded to clean the whole area. Once empty and clean, it became practical to catch up on the varnish.
After sanding all the teak with fine sandpaper I  wiped it down with mineral spirits. This morning the humidity was low, so I taped the trim and gave it a coat of rubbed effect Epifanes. It looks good but I'm not sure if I like it. It is not as shiny as the regular varnish. I suppose it doesn't really matter much in the v-berth. I had bought another can, so will need to use it up for the second coat tomorrow.
Outside, I cut off the fabric from the foam, tossed it out and left the bare mattress outside to dry and air. I'll need to get some new fabric to cover it.

Empty sidewalk near the marina.
Since we are still allowed outside, in the late afternoon I went for a 4km run. There were a few people out walking their dogs or with families but the town was not as busy as usual. My route took me through some back roads but there were dogs off-leash in the area, and with the darkness approaching I was a bit nervous, so I don't think I'll be running there again. I have a regular route towards the swinging bridge that is quite safe and not very busy if I go early in the morning. This was the final run of my C25K app, so when I returned home, I downloaded the 10km app. I hope I'll be able to run again - I seem to need it now.
