After four weeks on board, Riemer has left to do some travel by land to Thessaloniki and then Israel, while I prepare to head to Canada for six weeks in July and August. Yes, I know, it's summer in Greece and I should be sailing, but it can't be helped.
So, here is Riemer demonstrating how to get off Eidos while at the dock in Plateria:
Bye, Riemer. safe travels. It was a pleasure to have you aboard.
So, the next day, I let go of the dock lines, pulled up the stern anchor and sailed out of the bay.
I had light winds from the east, so sailed downwind and set the sails "wing on wing" or "milk maid" because they look like the Dutch milkmaid's hat. Our speed was 2.5 knots, so not bad. Unfortunately, the wind died as soon as I was out of the bay (the usual situation), so I eased into Monastery Bay anchorage near Mourtos Village to wait for more wind.
I must remember not to be so eager to sail and just patiently wait for wind. The wind always makes the final decision on when and where we sail.
