Making hummus on board

1. Soak half a cup of chickpeas overnight in a jar full of water.
2. Drain the water and stir in 1/2 t of soda. Wait one hour.
3. Rinse the chickpeas three times with plenty of water. 
4. Place chickpeas in a pot, add four cups of water, 1/2 t of salt, and bring to boil.
5. Simmer for one hour or until soft.
6. Mash chickpeas with 1/4 cup of olive oil, 1/8 cup vinegar, 2 garlic cloves by hand or in a food processor. 
7. Add spices and herbs to taste.
8. Enjoy on bread, pita or as a dip.
